Historical Society

Welcome to the Washington Historical Society website.  We hope you will find the site interesting and helpful.

Washington Village SignThe Washington Historical Society is a small, new organization trying to build a historical hamlet for the Washington Heritage. We are a volunteer organization, creating an image of our town that everyone will be proud of.

The society meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Masons Building. Every meeting includes a program to members, friends and visitors at no cost. Sometimes meetings may be relocated to the facilitate a program, like meetings that took place at the Matthews Museum of Maine Heritage in Union and the Evening Star Grange Hall in Washington.

Through the efforts of our members and other volunteers, the Razorville Hall has been restored with new windows and foundation and is now our exhibit hall.  Antiques have been donated or loaned to WHS and are now on display.  It is a work-in-progress as we continue to add more items and refine the exhibition space.  If you have items of significance that might be appropriate and would like to donate or place on loan, please contact us.  The Hall currrently is only open for visitors on special occasions so please watch our Upcoming Events page.
